It’s late. Way past your bedtime and the only thing you want to do it climb into bed. As you prepare to do so and take the first exit into Snoozeville, you notice that you haven’t washed the day off your face yet. “Ugh..it’s just this one time. I’ll wash my face first thing in the morning” you say to yourself.
Here’s why failing to take the extra seconds to wash your face is costing you even more than a few minutes of beauty sleep.
1. Hello breakouts!
Hitting the hay without washing your face first pretty much creates a breeding ground for bacteria to further clog your pores. The outcome is usually an increase in breakouts. To avoid this, cleanse your face right before bed every night and allow your pores to have sweet dreams too.
2. Overnight restoration
While you’re catching zzz’s your skin is hard at work repairing and renewing itself. In order to do so, your face must be clear of all makeup, dirt and oil. Also nighttime is prime time for your face to really absorb your skincare routine.
3. Potential eye infections
Leaving eye shadow, liner, and mascara on while you sleep is never smart. Your eyes are super sensitive and even while closed, these products can slip underneath your lids causing bacteria to creep in.
4. A ruined pillowcase
Want to know what all dwelled on your face the day before? Don’t wash you face and try sleeping on white pillowcase. I promise you will be mortified.
5. Enjoy a few minutes of self care
You’ve had a long day and I’m sure you’ve had a day filled with doing things for others. So treat yourself to a few minutes dedicated just for you. Take the last few moments of the day to reflect, complete a gratitude exercise, grab a glass of water and admire just how amazing you are.
