Glass Skin?

For the record, I blame TikTok and my mother.

After an extreme amount of peer pressure on my lack of retinol use in my current regimen, I fell into the #glassskin rabbit hole on TikTok. Next thing you know I have an Amazon cart full of product and now have a 8 step routine.

Now don’t get me wrong. I’m a sucker for quality skincare. Nothing fills my heart more than taking just a few minutes at night to myself to wash my face. My husband will tell you during the week, I will “sheet mask” it up anytime with a glass of wine in hand after a long day at work or the weekend. Self-care is the best care.

Korean skincare, often referred as K-Beauty consists of multi-step regimens up to 10 steps.Steps involving double cleansing, exfoliation, toning, essence application, serums, eye cream, face cream, and the use of sunscreen make it a ritual for sure. But the results are immediate as you can start to see an improvement in your skin soon after.

No lie, your face will look like a glazed donut. Krispy Kreme with the Hot Light on.

The Essence of Hydration

As someone that suffers from dry skin, I cannot hydrate enough. Personally adding an essence + serum to my routine has produced wonders. Prior to learning more about K-Beauty, I had no clue what an essence was. Using snail mucin (I promise it’s not as gross as it may sound), this product will repair and revitalize your skin instantly. But I quickly learned my skin needed it as it performs as a hydration booster before I apply my serum. A little bit goes a long way as my skin drinks this up.

The Power of Rice

Another key ingredient that has become a favorite of mine is rice. My skin occasionally suffers from hyperpigmentation, discoloration, and acne scarring. When I added the Beauty of Joseon Glow Deep serum I immediately saw the results of my skin tone becoming more even and bright. And though it is a serum, it is so lightweight and pairs with other products so well. This can be used both day and night and looks great underneath your makeup. The glow up is real with this one!

Oil Based Cleansing

Full disclosure. Initially I was skeptical on whether or not an “oil based” cleanser was for me. Typically when I thought of a a facial cleaner, I usually envision a foam or water based one. But after reading many reviews on TikTok on Anua, it seemed like everyone swore by this cleanser. I added it to my cart and I’m glad I did. As part of the double cleansing method, this cleanser is accompanied by a foam or water based cleanser. What I like most is how light and gentle this is but yet powerful enough to wash away your makeup. It also works hard to eliminate future blackheads too.

Where to Shop

Korean skincare has been around for centuries and though its popularity is on the rise, it’s no secret as to why it’s considered among the world leaders within the beauty industry.

These products are highly accessible and can be found anywhere from Amazon, Sephora, Ulta, to even your local TJ Maxx, Marshalls, etc.

Believe the hype and add K-Beauty to your beauty routine today!
