In honor of baby Marissa turning 1 this week, it’s time to reveal where she gets her beauty rest.  And let me tell you- thank goodness she is a good sleeper (unlike her brother) and she spends at least 12 hours a night in this lovely space.  For the record, it did not take us a year to get her room finished.  In fact, it was done before she was born, but then we moved…Luckily most of what I had purchased for her at the old house was easily transitioned to the new home.

That being said, interior design is hard for me.  I love it so much, but I am still learning.  There will be more on that to come when I reveal what my amazing designers (Design Shop Interiors) came up with for my living, dining and family rooms.

For Marissa’s nursery, I wanted a feminine color scheme, but not the same old pink that everyone uses.  I also wanted to play with texture, and have soft whites and creams with gold accents.  I cannot get enough of gold these days.  I want to re-do every knob in my house with a matte gold.  I wanted minimal pillows for the crib (because I am told it’s unsafe), with a comfy rocker for those late nights.  The dresser for me was the icing on the cake and I LOVE it.  To start my process, I used an inspirational picture from Project Nursery, and went from there.  Link to the inspirational photo gallery- here

I really fell in love with the peach dresser in this photo, but as you might expect, a peach dresser is hard to find.  I found a woman locally here in Sacramento that I worked with.  She found the dresser, reclaimed it, painted it, and then we put on the amazing knobs from Anthropologie.  I also found the crib on the Project Nursery website.  Some of the items were hand me downs from brother’s nursery, and others were chosen along the way.  The only thing that didn’t work out in the new house was the dalmation print drapes that I found on Etsy.  They were great, but didn’t work with the new window.

Without further ado, here is Marissa’s room.
